Itti' Bo'li
for Chorus and Piano

by Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate [7:00]

Commissioned by the Dale Warland Singers in Minneapolis, Itti' Bo'li is inspired by the old Chickasaw legend of a giant who lives in the woods. This giant has a wooden arm and strikes the trees at night, creating a thunderous sound throughout the forest. The opening melody is a quote from a Chickasaw Garfish Dance song, and the text is sung in the Chickasaw language.

Itti' Bo'li was premiered June 3, 1997 with Dale Warland conducting.
